Frequently Asked Questions

Why does discipline beat motivation in sales?

Because motivation is a feeling, and feelings take days off. Alexis came out of athletics, where you train on the days you feel great and the days you feel awful and the schedule does not care which one you got. She carried that straight into building a business. The people who win are the ones still doing the work on the flat days.

How do you sell a product that does not exist yet?

Alexis launched a concept nobody in her market was running, so there was nothing to compare it to and no category to point at. Her answer was to sell the outcome and the relationship instead of the thing. Show up, serve people, let them experience it. You are not asking anyone to buy a category. You are asking them to trust you.

Do you need formal sales training to be good at this?

Alexis never had any and she is doing fine. What she has is genuine connection, consistency and real belief in what she sells, which covers most of what training is trying to install anyway. Technique helps once those are in place. Without them, the best script in the world still sounds like somebody reading a script at you.

What is the connection between health and sales performance?

Alexis is blunt about it. The discipline that gets you to the gym is the same discipline that gets you on the phone, and the energy you build in one shows up in the other. It is hard to sound like somebody worth buying from when you are running on four hours of sleep and gas station food. Take care of the machine.
