How to Stop Making Excuses: Understanding Your Internal Beliefs
Excuses are a distraction from the real reason you haven't succeeded yet, which is that you don't believe it's possible for yourself. And I know that might hit hard and it might get you in a little bit, and it's supposed to, because sometimes we need to hear our own message. This message was for me at one point and may be for me again in the future.
How to Stop Making Excuses: Recognizing Self-Sabotage Patterns
When we start making up excuses and rationalizing all of the reasons that we don't have what we want yet, it's usually just because we're trying to believe it's not possible. We're making up roadblocks and putting up these walls that are preventing us from getting what we want.
It's our internal way of hiding from failure, preventing shame; our minds work in this weird, strange way where if we don't see the exact way to make something happen, we try to close off from fear.
How to Stop Making Excuses: Evaluating Your Priorities
How often in your life are you in a moment where you're making excuses, rationalizing some situation just to give reason as to why you don't have it yet? Sometimes it's real, sometimes you do have things going on, roadblocks that you have to handle, challenges that need to be overcome.
But the longer you sit on that challenge and the more you give it value, the further away from your success you're getting. The more you're giving validity to those excuses.
How to Stop Making Excuses: Embracing Accountability
At the end of the day, the only thing you need to really think about is that God, the universe, whatever higher power that you subscribe to, wants you to win. It wants you to be successful. The energy is driving you towards the success and the outcome of your life that you've been destined for. But every excuse you make, every rationalization that you allow to come to fruition, it's taking you two steps back from where you're supposed to be.
On occasion, you need to take two steps back so that you can fly ten steps forward. But if you keep going backwards, eventually that tension breaks and you lose the ability to spring. Just understand, those excuses are a distraction. All you need to do is have faith and believe, because what's destined for you is coming.
